At Gleme, we seek to bring a positive impact in the lives of african farmers.
In order to increase the productivity and improve the quality of life of farmers, we have set up several projects in each of the Foundation's major activities.
Our main objective this year is to encourage women who own or participate in farm activities.
Our current project:
The women of Alake and their paddy rice.
Allahé is one of the 8 arrondissements of the commune of Zakpota, which is located in Zou, in central Benin. Farmers have been farming there for decades, especially growing rice.
In this region, they produce more than 400 tons of rice each year, most of which is sold as paddy rice to large traders from nearby markets such as Glazoué. Other traders from Nigeria are also interested in this rice, which is becoming increasingly popular with consumers.
The rice sector essentially comprises three main activities: production, processing and marketing of husked rice.
